Fun with Hannah

Hannah is staying with us during the days this week, and today, we met our friends at the splash park. Brooke and Hannah had a good time. Hannah was thrilled to find some un-popped balloons that she could fill with the sprayers and Brooke was thrilled as well, since she can't fill up a balloon on her own. I'm sure we will go back another day this week and take our own balloons instead of using someone else's trash;)

Busy, busy, busy

Well, we had a long weekend of getting things done around the house and checking things off the to-do list. Bill got the cradle put together earlier last week, and we think we got everything out of storage that we need. Friday night we spent a couple of hours organizing the girls' bedroom and getting everything put away. Summer's bed had been full of random stuff that we hadn't found a home for, so it was good to get all of that done. All of Summer's clothes and bedding have been washed and put away. I got all of our bottles and pump parts sterilized, and I've started packing some things for the hospital. That's a hard thing to cross off, since some of the things we need to pack are also things we will use between now and going to the hospital. I guess we can't be totally packed until we're ready to go:)
I also finished the letters for both girls' names and we got them hung up on the wall....

I REALLY like how they turned out, and so far, Brooke hasn't messed with the letters. I told her that if she couldn't leave them alone, we would have to take her name down and she wouldn't get to have her name on the wall like Summer. Hopefully that's enough reason for her to leave them alone!
My mom finished putting the bed-skirt together and brought that over on Saturday, so now Summer's bed is totally ready...silly thing is she won't be sleeping in it for a while, and the cradle, which she will sleep in right away, now has several things in it that don't belong there.
So it seems like most everything on my original to-do list is complete. We haven't installed the car seat yet, but I need the extra seat for Natalie. Plus, this week Hannah is staying with me during the day, so I need it for her. Like I told Bill though, even if it's not installed before we go to the hospital, there will be time to install it before we take her home, so I'm not totally concerned about it. I did do some designing of an announcement, but of course, that has to be a surprise to everybody. And, we do still need to wrap both gifts for the girls. I don't want to have Brooke wrap Summer's gift too early since I want her to remember and understand that it's from her, to Summer. I may even wait until I'm pretty sure we're going to the hospital to have her wrap it.
Well, I'm sure there are other things we need to do and I'll think of them as the time comes!

R.I.P. Bunny

Unfortunately, I missed my opportunity to take a picture of this, but yesterday Brooke did the funniest thing after I laid her down for nap. I went to check on her about 20 minutes after laying her down and noticed that her door was half-way closed. I immediately wondered what trouble she was into, but when I peeked in she was in her bed covered up, nearly asleep, and didn't even notice me. I noticed that her bunny and snuggly weren't in bed with her as usual, but, didn't think too much of it. Later in the evening, while putting some things away in her room, I found Bunny. Bunny was on the floor, next to Brooke's bed, completely covered with snuggly. Apparently Bunny also needed a nap, but not in bed with Brooke and had gotten cold. Again, I wish I had taken a picture right then and there but I didn't and then it was too late because Brooke picked them both up.

SplashPark

Yesterday was our first visit of the season to a city splash park. It only took Brooke about five minutes to get used to it again and then she was off and running through every sprayer and fountain there was. She'd run around for a few minutes and then come back to me smiling and say, "Splash me again, Mommy," which meant that she got sprayed again. Here are some pictures:

Still just getting used to it

This dog came by with his owners and he seemed to enjoy the water as much as Brooke. When a fountain would start coming up he would attack it with his mouth and then stand right on top of it, letting the water soak his belly. It was really cute.

Brooke wouldn't go anywhere near these last year, but this year she'd go around in circles waiting to run through them.

"Splash me again, Mommy."

Soaking wet and loving it! She didn't even shiver today like she normally does when she plays in the water.

Visit with Papa and Mema

Last weekend we went to McAlester to visit Bill's dad, Larry, and step mom, Vickie. They just moved back after a year and a half in Colorado. We will miss visiting them in Colorado, but are really glad they're close again. It's taken me until now to get this post up because we seem to be so busy doing nothing around here.
We had a good visit with everybody and Brooke had a really good time playing and swimming with her cousins there. Here are a few pictures from our visit:

Brooke and Cody reading a book with Mema.

Brooke showing her cars to Gabe and Cody

Brooke with Mema and her new dog Daisy

Brooke and Daddy swimming...we did A LOT of this!

Everybody else was wearing them, so Brooke thought she should too.

Brooke spent a lot of time throwing toys into the pool at the boys. Sometimes I think she thought that was more fun than actually swimming.

Sunday we visited Grandma and Grandpa Aguilar and Bill was able to help Grandpa get this huge limb down that had been hanging for over a year.

Brooke had fun in the yard collecting rocks and showing them to Grandma

Summer (the season) Reading

So now that I'm done with school for a while, I can finally get some fun reading done. Last week, I read Split Ends by Kristin Billerbeck. She's a Christian chick-lit author that I found a while back and really enjoy. It was a really good book and an easy read, about a girl from Wyoming who had a difficult childhood that leaves home to pursue her Hollywood hairstylist dreams.
